This site’s program uses so much memory—wow, I’m giving up

Originally, I just wanted to set up a forum for fun, but it uses so much memory—the minimum requirement is 2GB of RAM. Then I went to the official site to apply for a free forum, and seriously, as soon as I posted something with a link, I got banned. How am I supposed to play like this? Might as well set one up myself.

But even for the installation, the minimum environment requires 2GB of RAM. I figured if I actually got it running, it would probably lag like crazy.
The requirements are just way too high—there are a lot of hurdles, and if you have low RAM or a small CPU, it’s just not gonna work. It’s a real resource hog, so I gave up.

Just use AI to write one yourself—keep only the core, and make everything else modular with plugins.

Just tinkering around when there’s nothing to do—2GB of RAM is still pretty decent.

Even with my local i9 and 32GB DDR4 memory, it takes five minutes to start Discourse in Docker—so imagine how long it’ll take for you…

A lightweight recommendation: Flarum

The problem is, flarum is both ugly and hard to use.

Flarum isn’t ugly either.

The community has tons of themes.

Of course, the forum uses up memory :ac01:

You can tell at a glance that you’re a big foodie.

Discourse is too complicated. Better use my forumlify (
