The digital bank Maya from the Philippines (formerly PayMaya) offers cardless virtual bank card services, mainly divided into two types. Both require a Philippine mobile number to apply:
1. Maya Virtual Debit Card
What it is: A prepaid card linked to your Maya wallet balance, automatically issued for free with the account.
Use cases: For purchases on low-priced Steam/Xbox regions, linking with Alipay/international e-commerce platforms, or registering on platforms like Jupiter that require proof of address.
Note: Identity verification requires a passport and a Philippine address. Document photos must be clear and complete—some users have given up applying after several failed attempts.
2. Maya Black Virtual Credit Card
What it is: A credit card launched in April 2025, with a virtual card instantly generated in the app upon approval.
Features: Mainly targets users with limited credit history, using AI to analyze transaction data for eligibility assessment.
Benefits: Earn Maya Miles through spending, which can be exchanged for Philippine Airlines miles or other rewards.
Key Requirements and Reminders
Mobile number: Registration requires a Philippine Smart or Globe number (to receive verification codes). Mainland Chinese numbers are not accepted.
Real-name verification: All features require verified identity; otherwise, card issuance isn’t possible.
Physical card: To get a physical card, you’ll need to find a local contact to receive and forward it back to your home country.
