Another day of doing things unconventionally: the Codex extraction method

I’ve always downloaded Codex-Windows-x64.msix, changed the extension to .zip, and run the .exe directly without installing it. But today, the latest version unexpectedly threw an error.

I let ChatGPT sort it out itself :kitchen_knife::kitchen_knife::kitchen_knife:, you little dog :dog_face::dog_face:—and it actually managed to fix it. Codex is up and running happily again :rofl::rofl:

If you wish to practice this art……

I just run it directly from the Microsoft Store. If you run the exe directly without setting the environment variables, won’t you run into problems?

This reminds me of playing Meteor Butterfly Sword—you could run the EXE directly without installing it. It launched instantly.

Hey, what does this do? Does it mean you no longer need to log in, or that you can use it without installing anything?

The environment is restricted, so I don’t want to install anything—and I don’t like the Microsoft Store either.

Okay, thanks, boss!
