About my GitHub account being banned...

I’m trembling with fear as someone who has three accounts.

You’ll just have to reapply!

Mine got banned too—banned at the end of March. It was an old account I registered in 2020, with repositories for iptv, book sources, moontv, and similar projects. Over six years, nothing ever happened to my account. But the day before it was banned, I turned off GitHub’s feature that lets AI read and learn from repository code, and the next day the account was banned.

I registered 4 accounts, all on the same computer. It’s been half a year now and none of them have been banned.

There was a post about GitHub being blocked on the NL forum before, and I made the best reply. For your reference:

I guess some automated scripts caused the accounts to get banned, since I’ve been banned before too.

Win the case through a different channel.

Four GitHub accounts, it’s been years, never had any problems.

I also had an old account that got banned before. I appealed for a year to get it back, and before that it was just like this—no one replied to me.
Customer service said it was because I didn’t enable 2FA and got hacked.

Banned in May 2024, and it wasn’t until June 2025 that a real person contacted me to lift the ban.
That account was from June 2022 :xhj32:

The good news is they finally unbanned me, and even released the email linked to multiple accounts so I could use it again.

I set up an auto check-in before, but then the repo disappeared. Luckily, my account didn’t get banned.

Why is that?

My three accounts are working fine too.

It’s normal, a lot of people got banned this year. I had a side account that got banned too, because of some streaming setup. But the bans are done randomly by bots. To get unbanned, it seems you have to send an email explaining and then bind your phone number, but I didn’t bother with it.

GitHub is pretty strict when it comes to account bans. One of my accounts got banned just for using a student package.

I got one of my accounts banned too :sob:. Luckily, signing up for this thing is pretty easy, and it was just a new account. If it had been an old one, I’d be mad as hell .

This thing can get banned too?

It would be best to recover it if possible—your GitHub registration date is also useful.

It’s useless. He replied saying I violated the terms of service and won’t lift the restriction, but I can’t even figure out where I supposedly abused anything.
