My GitHub accounts were suspended in November 2025—both major accounts got banned at the same time. Since then, I’ve appealed 5 or 6 times, but never got a reply from a real person, always just a bot. Each time, I get the same kind of message: “Thank you for contacting GitHub Support. We want to let you know we’ve received your message. We’re experiencing high volumes, so you may have to wait longer than usual. Thank you for contacting GitHub Support. We want to let you know we’ve received your message. We’re experiencing high volumes, so you may have to wait longer than usual. In the meantime, you may find answers or solutions to your problem in the GitHub documentation. Feel free to check it out!” …
Today, when I tried logging in, I saw this:
I didn’t do anything either, but still triggered this. I even spent money to get a virtual number to appeal, but it was useless. Now I don’t even dare to log in and use it anymore.
Go ahead and register another one. I regularly switch between 3-4 accounts and it seems fine, but I still feel like there’s a decent risk of getting banned. I’ve had one banned before, but it was a brand new account with nothing on it. Maybe you need to “warm up” the account a bit first.
I got banned once last year. I guess it was because I deployed my own custom scripts and logged in on both my phone and computer using the same IP. Later, I appealed via email and got my account back.
Usually, you won’t get banned if you don’t do anything. Maybe it’s because you’re a newbie and accidentally did something wrong, or someone reported you and you got banned—it’s hard to say.
